At the same time, questions arose about whether the "traditional" GOP majority in Texas would hold firm, with uncertainty in the national political environment and demographic changes in the state

Even when public polling and other partisan pollsters were coming up empty (or even wrong), Ragnar was able to show exactly who was in danger and where Republicans could go on the offensive.
Texas Republicans maintained 83 seats in a year of unprecedented Democrat enthusiasm. State Republicans outperformed the national average and held on to the reins of government in a crucial redistricting year.
