A crowded field in a critical special election meant that Congressman Ellzey had to distinguish himself from the crowd quickly. On top of that, the widow of the former Congressman had received the ultimate endorsement, further enhancing her name ID advantages.

With very little time to change the dynamics of the race, Congressman Ellzey needed to make sure that each message counted. His impressive military background resonated with voters and his disciplined campaigning slowly swung the tide, despite opposition from DC special interest groups. Building a strong profile as a conservative and making sure his message reached the right voters brought him back into the fight.

Despite the opposition of several prominent organizations, Congressman Ellzey decisively won the special election, 53% to 47%.  His disciplined and determined campaign, armed with messages that connected with voters, was the critical element to securing his victory in this high profile election.
